He began his academic journey at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, NC, earning his undergraduate degree. He then obtained his medical degree from the University of Kentucky College of Medicine in Lexington, KY. Following this, Dr. Prado completed his Ophthalmology residency at Wake Forest University School of Medicine.
